A portfolio website as considered as the spaces it showcases

Navy Lane Design & Consulting is a full-service residential and commercial interior design firm based in West Michigan. Their work — spanning complete home renovations, new builds, and curated furnishing projects — had earned them strong local word-of-mouth. What they lacked was a digital presence capable of converting that reputation into enquiries from the right clients.

We designed and built a Squarespace 7.1 website from the ground up — creating a clean, photography-forward architecture that guides prospective clients through the firm's portfolio, process, and philosophy in a natural sequence. Every design decision was guided by one question: does this make the right client want to pick up the phone?

Within two months of launch, Navy Lane received more inbound project enquiries through their website than in the previous twelve months combined, including the landmark Capilano commission that became the firm's most celebrated project.

The Challenge, The Craft, The Result

01

The Challenge

Navy Lane had no website. Their enquiries came entirely through referrals and Instagram, which meant the firm's growth was capped by the size of its existing network. High-value residential clients searching online were finding and booking competitors with stronger web presences, despite Navy Lane's superior design caliber. The firm needed a website that could do the work of their best introduction.

02

Our Approach

We started with six discovery sessions to understand how Navy Lane's ideal clients think, search, and make decisions. The site architecture was built around a simple three-step journey: see the work, understand the process, start a conversation. We wrote all the copy from scratch, developed a comprehensive photography brief for their existing project archive, and built the site on Squarespace 7.1 with a heavily customised CSS layer that gives it a bespoke feel no template could achieve.

03

The Result

More website enquiries in the first two months than in the previous entire year. The Capilano project, which was featured prominently in the portfolio, generated five direct commission enquiries on its own. Navy Lane expanded their team within six months of launch to handle the increased project load the new site made possible.

Refined, Warm, Authoritative

A colour system that earns trust before a word is read — navy authority balanced by dusty rose warmth and linen softness.

"Before Teqkila built our website, growth felt like it had a ceiling. Now our best clients find us before we find them. The Capilano enquiry came through the site and turned into our biggest project ever. The investment paid for itself in the first 60 days."
